Tuesday – Welcome reception

The welcome reception will be held in Håkonshallen (The King Håkon’s Hall) on Tuesday (21st June) at 20:00, sponsored by the municipality of Bergen. Beverages and finger food will be served.

It is important that attendees arrive on time as the doors will be close at 20:00.


Wednesday – Conference dinner

The conference dinner will take place at Grand Bergen on Wednesday (22nd June) at 20:00.


Thursday – Midsummer celebrations

Thursday, June 23 is the mid-summer eve in Norway which is celebrated in many places around Bergen with a bonfire.

There are several alternatives

  • Gamle Bergen starts around 6pm and last until 21 pm with ignition around 7 pm. Served by busline 12, direction Gamle Bergen

  • Montana marken starts around 6pm and last until 21 pm with ignition around 7 pm. Served by busline 12, direction Lægdene Montana

The most famous bonfire in Bergen is tønnebålet på Laksevåg (the barrel fire at Laksevåg).

Walking distance from the city centre is approximately 2 kilometres.

Busline 6 runs from the city centre (stop: Olav Kyrres gate) to Laksevåg (get off at bus stop Damsgård hovedgård). Busline 6 has departures going back to the city centre until midnight.

The main bonfire (world largest barral fire) will be ignited at 21.30.

A number of other traditional Norwegian events is taking place in association with the bonfire at Laksevåg.

Getting into the main area requires a ticket, but it is possible to observe the bonfire from a distance.
